FIRST MAP DONE

FIRST MAP ALREADY DONE, SCREEN SHOTS TO COME

Alright, E1M1 is already done. Not surprising as it is a short intro mission. I’ll start E1M2 ASAP. The only thing I have to figure out is weapons linking to the next level. Persistent Integers seem like they are a pain in the ass. 

So I basically have a few options
1.) Learn how to use Persistent Integers
2.) Make all weapons out in the open and not hidden – include an armory at the start of every level.

I’ll have to decide soon….in the mean time, everyone have a Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!

RE-STARTING THIS PROJECT

I’M BACK. Wow what a rough few months. Hey…life happens. The good news is since the summer so much content has come out for SnapMap that I scrapped everything I had done and will be starting over. I cannot wait to produce these Episodes and Missions.

SO…like I said in my previous post, I’ve shortened things up. It was way too much before. Now – 3 episodes, 4 missions in each. Straightforward and not too long. Going back to the classic DOOM games, each Episode will be separate from each other. So, for example – when you finish Level 4 in Episode 1….it won’t link with E2M1 – this will allow you to come back and complete the episodes one at a time.

As before….the timeline stands that I created. I didn’t delete those posts because they are still valid. The Episode listings are still the same as well – all named after Heavy Metal songs!

I’ll be getting started on this VERY soon. Hopefully I’ll have some levels out ASAP!!

ETERNAL DOOM….IS BACK!!

THE GLORIOUS RETURN

HELLO EVERYONE! Welcome to my WordPress page – I am Sandman705 (XBL gamertag as well) and this is my blog for my newest project – ETERNAL DOOM. Set 10 years after the conclusion of DOOM this is a custom campaign built from the ground up in DOOM’s SnapMap editor! The good folks at Bethesda and ID Software just released a brand new SnapMap update including the Weapon Wheel from the campaign and new hell textures! This update has inspired me to create a new DOOM adventure! [MANY CHANGES SINCE I POSTED THIS….ALL GOOD THINGS!!]

Now – SnapMap is great, but there are some limitations. The biggest being unable to link levels together [THIS IS NOW POSSIBLE!!]- so some imagination is necessary – I still believe I can create a fun experience to play here. Plus – this won’t be an overnight or even weekend project. This is going to take some time so who knows what other updates they will come out with!

This adventure will have 3 episodes (much like the original DOOM) consisting of 5 missions each plus a bonus Prologue mission before each episode starts! 18 missions of pure demon killing fun! Now that’s awesome! [NO…THIS HAS CHANGED. THAT IS JUST TOO MUCH. EACH EPISODE HAS 4 LEVELS…NO PROLOGUES. THE LEVELS WILL BE LINKED TOGETHER PER EPISODE]

When I complete maps and upload them I will post the code on here so you can look them up and continue your adventure!

ETERNAL DOOM WILL FEATURE HUDS

YES THAT IS PLURAL…

HELLO! Today was spent tinkering and toying more with SnapMap and I learned a few things. I played with integers, sequencers and HUDs! I’m happy to announce the custom campaign of ETERNAL DOOM will feature not 1…not even 2 or 3 but FOUR HUDs! Thanks to the sequencer you can press the X BUTTON to scroll through the HUDs. Here is a description of what they do.

HUD 1 – Contains score, Kill Count and a status of online or offline.
HUD 2 – Contains the time surpassed, the par time of each map and a counter to track how many secrets are remaining on the map!
HUD 3 – Contains the location name, external temperature and date
HUD 4 – Contains Praetor Suit version, tracks upgrades and Praetor Suit status.

Wait…what!? Upgrades!? I’ll have more on that soon. The Prologue and first mission are pretty much complete. I should have them up tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest! Check the images I posted for a sneak peak at what 2 out of the 4 HUDs look like!
